Dish TV presents Zing to regional viewers

The company has already launched the new service in West Bengal

Dish TV India's largest DTH service launches new DTH brand for regional viewers of the state.“We are eyeing all the customers who are focused on the regional content. These customers may not be interested in international contents and are happy with the regional contents,” said Salil Kapoor, chief operating officer, Dish TV India limited at the launching ceremony.

According to Salil Kapoor, Chief Operating Officer, Dish TV, the company will roll out the service in West Bengal followed by Odisha.

The new product will provide a lot of local Odia channels in a budget friendly package. Dish TV India Chief Operating Officer (COO) Salil Kapoor said they are focusing on tapping the rural market by providing as many local channels as they can with minimal monthly rental. The rural viewers will gain importance in next few years with the ongoing compulsory cable television digitisation.  Dish TV India currently has a customer base of more than 16 million. Odisha is the second State where the new product was launched after West Bengal.

Zing will offer 13 local channels including six news channels, four Odia channels and three devotional channels. In order to target the rural viewership segment, the product has been made available at a monthly price of Rs 172 whereas other DTH operators reportedly charge minimum `220. Hindi and English entertainment channels will also be included in the basic package.

Executive vice-president (marketing) of Dish TV India Anjali Malhotra said they will begin a campaign in rural areas of the State to reach out to a larger population.
