BIS standards / IS Certification to be mandatory for Set Top Box from 3rd July 2013
According to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), from july 3, 2013 all Set-Top Box would be ban to sale without IS certification. So it is mandatory to carry BIS mark on all set-Top Box.
The Indian Government already to inform to manufacturers / importers about 15 categories of electronics products. For this BIS testing process Government already has assigned 9 labs. so first they are checking quality of box then they will approve to sale on market.
Some other categories also under BIS certification which is includes Tablets, laptops, Plasma LCD/LED TV, Set Top Box, Dish Players, Ovens, printers, scanners and some other products.
